DAY 1 SOFIA Airport pick up, full walking tour of Sofia. Visit everything and more with our professional tour guide. In the afternoon transfer to the skirts of Vitosha mountian to see the amazing medeival frescos of Boyana Church. Traditional folklore dinner and dance show.DAY 2 SOFIA - KARDZHALIHead South-East to Kardhzali - our entry town of Eastern Rhodope. On the way we stop at the village of Aleksandrovo and visit 4th century BC Aleksandrovo Thracian Tomb - one of the few Thracian remains with original wall paintings in Bulgaria. We also visit The Museum Center Of Thracian Art in The Eastern Rhodope. Evening arrival to our base on the bank of Kardzhali dam.
DAY 3 PERPERICONAfter breakfast we drive 15 km northeast of Kardhzali to Perpericon - the ancient Thracian sacred place. Human activity here dates back to 5000 BC, one of the most ancient monumental megalithic structures in Bulgaria. The place is entirely carved into the rocks standing on a cliff of 470 meters that offers amazing view of the surrounding valley. Back to Kardhzali for dinner.DAY 4 AROUND KARDZHALI DAMDepart after breakfast, pass through obscured villages, cross a rope bridge to the abounded village of Lisistsite and Chit Kaya – an unexplored Thracian fortress. Follow the curves of Kardzhali dam through authentic villages, friendly smiles of the locals and breathtaking vistas of the beautiful Rhodope. Back to our base for delicious local dinner.
DAY 5 ARDINO AND DEVIL'S BRIDGEAfter breakfast we drive deep into The Eastern Rhodope to Ardino village. Visit Devil's bridge – an arch bridge over the Arda river in a narrow gorge, part of the ancient road connecting the lowlands of Thrace with the north Aegean Sea coast. After lunch explore Orlovo Skali – Thracian sacred place lost into the mysteries of time. Back to Kardzhali for overnight. DAY 6 KARDZHALI - PLODVIDTransfer to Bachkovo Monastery – found in 10-th century this is the second largest and one of the most important in Bulgaria. Visit the monastery the open air market. After lunch we visit Asen's Fortress – built in the 13th century during The Second Bulgarian Kingdom, serving as a border fortification against Latin raids. Transfer to Plovdiv for dinner and overnight.
DAY 7 PLODVID - SOFIA Plovdiv – The city of Seven Hills is Bulgaria’s second largest city and one of Europe’s oldest continuously inhabited settlements, once the meeting point of two important ancient transportation routes. We do walking tour of the Old Town, visit the anciant theatre, Etnographic museum etc. enjoy Transfer back to Sofia in the afternoon. DAY 8 SOFIA Transfer to airport according flight schedule.
